Finding Forums for my Niche

Screenshot of phpBB3, an Internet Forum softwareImage via Wikipedia

Part of marketing your website is finding resources that can make that job a bit easier. This includes networking with others who are interested in similar markets. Finding forums that deal with your particular area of niche marketing is a plus for any online business.

Finding forums can be as easy as a keyword search. You can type “forums” in the search box and see what comes up. It will return over a million results so you’ll have to narrow it down from there. What is your niche?

Add that name to “forum” and try again. You will still get a large number of results but not as much as just plugging in the word “forum”. You can go through each of these, or you can further whittle down the niche to a finer type of product.

There may be hundreds of thousands of forums for your niche. Try a few to see if they deal with issues that you are looking to explore. Some of those niche forums may be for customer comments. On websites, these types of forums draw more customers to the site. They get a chance to compare notes and talk about what they have purchased.

These forums can be helpful as far as hearing what customers have to say about the products and what they would like to see. But, as a business owner, you are looking for forums that deal with the business aspect of selling these products. You want to connect with other business owners so you can pick each others’ brains for useful information.

What is the advantage of these business forums? A business forum for your niche will give you the support you are seeking to help with your business. People with similar interests can work together to build partnerships so both businesses increase their profits.

Some forums will let you advertise your business when you post. This is a way that others can find leads on new businesses. When you find a good forum, don’t just visit to post information about your business and then leave. Be a member in good standing.

Being a member of a forum is just like being a member of a social club. The more often you show up and participate, the more people will know your name. If someone is looking to partner with a business like yours, another member can recommend you because they know you. It will be considered selfish to only focus on your own interests and not contribute to the forum as a whole.

As a business owner, join at least a couple of forums. Don’t join more than you can possibly participate in, and stay current. However, you want to get a good mix of different types of forums. Find something special about each forum that you haven’t found anywhere else so that each offers something new.

7 Ways Ebooks can enhance your Online Business

$100 Laptop prototypeImage via Wikipedia

There are many ways to enhance your business. If you are looking to pursue one of those ways, consider using eBooks. EBooks are the easiest way for people to acquire books without needing a bookshelf to house them all. Here are some of the benefits of eBooks:

1. EBooks are inexpensive to produce.
You can hire someone to take your manuscript and turn it into a professional-looking product or you can do it yourself using eBook compiler and design software. Make your eBook look as attractive as any volume sold in a store.

2. There is no cost involved in getting eBooks out to the customer.
Since the customer can download them right from the Internet, you don’t have to worry about the cost of shipping and insuring your product. Also customers will be glad that they can get your book virtually in an instant as soon as they've paid for it.

3. EBooks can be used in a number of ways.
You can use them as a way for people to learn more about the aspects of your business. Written information on certain subjects are always in demand. Make sure that it is good quality information presented in a way that has not been done before.

4. Give them away as contest prizes. With each order, a customer is entered in a draw for an eBook of their choice. You are making money because the customer has to buy something from you in order to get a chance to have the eBook for free.

5. EBooks can be written by you.
Having a book with your name on it makes you more credible with your consumer base. If you have a knack for writing, money will be saved by not hiring a ghostwriter to do it for you. All of the profit is going directly to you and your company. Once you get started you will get hooked on the idea and want to write an entire library of eBooks.

6. The money that you spent to have the eBook created
will be recouped as soon as you sell the first few eBooks. People are willing to pay for convenience. Having a book at their fingertips as soon as they want it is as convenient as it gets. As long as you are willing to put in the work, the earning potential is limitless.

7. Sell your eBook in other marketplaces.
EBay is the most noted marketplace on the Internet. Creating how-to books and other books dedicated to subject matter of interest to the public is a moneymaker. Who knows? A publisher may get a hold of it and want to offer you a deal to publish it in hardcopy form.

There are many uses for eBooks that can bring extra profits to your business.

Why are Moderators Necessary During Online Conferences?

Although online conferences are somewhat easier to plan than live, in-person events, they do require some thought and careful organization in order to go smoothly. There are technical [tag]aspects to think about, registration to be taken care of, and presenters to prepare for their presentations. And there is one more thing that is worth considering: should you have a moderator?

If you have participated in an online conference or conference call, you have probably seen or heard a moderator even if you didn't realize it at the time. The moderator is the person who introduces the speakers, but that is only a small portion of his duties. A moderator's function is to keep everything going smoothly.

The moderator may help with technical checks before the conference starts, making sure everyone is logged in and there are no audio or video problems. He can make sure that everyone has the notes they need and there is no undesirable background noise. He may also greet participants as they call or log in and tell them anything they need to know.

Once the conference has begun, the moderator does an introduction and then hands the reins over to the first speaker. If there are other speakers, he will usually introduce them as well. And once the speakers are finished, the moderator can maintain order during a question and answer session.

It is up to the conference holder to determine whether a moderator should be used or not, but with large conferences with multiple speakers it is almost a necessity. Smaller conferences may or may not really need a moderator, but they can certainly benefit from having one. The moderator can smooth transitions between segments of the conference and assist participants with any technical difficulties they may have during the presentations.

If there is just one speaker, even at a small conference, having a moderator is probably a good idea. The speaker won't be able to attend to technical issues while speaking. If you have two or more speakers and are not expecting a large audience, however, a moderator might not be necessary. If both speakers can handle technical issues and one would like to take on the question and answer session, they may do fine on their own.

In most cases, a moderator is essential to keeping your conference on track and free of problems and distractions. If you don't have someone in your company who can serve as a moderator, you can hire someone you know or post an ad online. While it is possible to have a conference without a moderator, having one gives you the peace of mind of knowing that things will likely go much more smoothly.

For most people, the word "conference" brings images of people in suits sitting in a board room discussing business matters. Online conferencing has turned that definition on its head, allowing businesspeople to come together from their own offices even if those offices are on separate continents. But online conferencing is good for more than just business meetings.

The availability and ease of use of online conferencing software has led to an increase in its usage. Here are some of the things that you can use online conferencing for:

* Online parties - Many direct sales reps have some of their parties online. It's convenient for the seller because she doesn't have to tote samples around, and it's convenient for guests because they don't have to leave home to attend. This would technically fall under the category of business, but it can be a lot of fun too!

Online groups can also have parties online. They could hold a text or video chat, play games, and give away prizes. Or on holidays such as New Year's Eve, they could do a video chat to virtually combine their parties. There are all sorts of possibilities.

* Chatting with friends - If you've ever visited a public chat room, you know that sometimes it's hard to communicate with the people you want to talk to. Spammers frequent popular rooms, sending private messages about less than desirable subjects. So if you want to talk to your friends online, why not use your online conferencing software?

* Virtual family reunions - If your family is widely scattered, you may not get to see some of them as often as you'd like. Traditional family reunions are nice, but the travel required may not be feasible for some of your family members. Having an online conference can allow everyone to catch up with each other without requiring a lot of preparation or expense.

* Catching up with the kids - Do you have kids that are grown or in college? If they do not live nearby, it might seem impossible to get together with them and just sit down and talk. You can call them on the phone, but there may be long-distance charges. And if there are several of them, the phone doesn't allow you to easily talk to all of them at once. Online conferencing software provides an easy way for everyone to "get together".

Online conferencing software is a time and money saver for businesses, and it can facilitate communication for personal purposes too. Business owners who have the software can use it for these purposes when they're not using it for work. Those who aren't in business can purchase it to talk with friends and family. Anyone who has a computer can use it to communicate with others.

Essential Ecommerce Resources for Online Success

Domain name? Hosting account? Dreams of riches? The basics are in check and you're ready to jump in the ecommerce game. It’s exciting, fast paced and competitive. It’s also a tough arena to gain success in. Anybody can start an ecommerce site. But how will your site stand apart from the sea of millions and retain a loyal consumer base? How will you grow? A steady stream of resources and tools are essential. Here are some tips to help you on your way.

How will you get paid? The options are plentiful and require careful consideration for your specific business model. Option one is a true merchant account. A merchant account is solely yours and must be granted through a processing bank. The merchant is completely responsible for the account, including gateway access.

Qualifications can be steep for a true merchant account and you must be a legally registered business to apply. Like anything credit related, the merchant's credit score will determine factor eligibility and rates. If your site has low transaction volumes, a merchant account may be too costly as fees are incured with minimal usage. While a merchant account gives you complete control it can be difficult to obtain and costly to maintain.

A popular and less expensive alternative is third party processing. Essentially the merchant is able to utilize the true merchant account of a third party. Paypal.com is perhaps one of the most widely recognized third party processing companies. In lieu of a credit check, only identity verification is required. Third party processing is easy to integrate with an existing website by adding a few simple lines of code. In other words, no programming knowledge is necessary. Third party merchant accounts rarely require any sort of contract or commitment. If you are just starting out, the ease of use, low cost and flexibility of a third party merchant account can be a terrific asset.

Know your customers. It seems elementary but is not as easy as it sounds. Most websites have a conversion rate of 2%. What does that mean exactly? Only 2 out of 100 visitors to the site actually make a purchase. Learning what the other 98 visitors are doing and why they didn’t perform a transaction is necessary in order to grow your conversion rate. Most web hosting companies offer a plethora of statistics included in your package. It would be nice to have a single magic tool to learn why visitors to your site don’t make a purchase. Unfortunately such a tool doesn’t exist. The best way is to simply ask. The key to getting accurate and helpful feedback is to inquire in a non-obstructive way. It may sound old-fashioned but the old adage stands true; you won’t know if you don’t ask.

Make them feel secure. Internet consumers need to feel secure in all phases of the transaction. The protection of their financial and personal information is paramount. All ecommerce sites must meet four requirements: privacy, integrity, authentification and non-repudiation. Most sites leave the mechanics to their hosting company but it’s very important to understand the basics.

Customer service is still king. When we shop we like to know the merchant is available to answer questions and assist us with all phases of our purchase. We might not need a sales person but it’s nice to know the option is there. Ecommerce customer service software has become a necessity. Implementing solutions to immediately assist customers with live interaction is a sure-fire way to acquire repeat customers. Internet consumers are savvy. Immediate satisfaction is matched only by the demand for accurate, real time information.

Hop aboard the ecommerce marketing train and don’t buy a one-way ticket. If you want to stay afloat, a multifaceted marketing plan is the only way to survive. Webmasters can no longer rely on a single action marketing philosophy. Craft a marketing plan that encompasses email, newsletters, blogs, link exchanges, search engine optimization, article database submission and cross promotion. Long gone are the days of marketing only to the consumer. A solid business to business marketing plan has become essential in the ecommerce rat race.

Ecommerce resources are plentiful, the solutions robust. Create your own excitement and commit to the long haul. Weathering growing pains can lead to big gains. Success and longevity are attainable once the fundamentals have been implemented.

How to Keep Going When You Feel Like Giving Up

When you are your own boss, motivation can be a tricky thing. Those who work for someone else are usually presented with incentives to keep them motivated and working hard. But when you have no boss, it's up to you to find ways to motivate yourself.

Taking the road less traveled is difficult at times. By choosing to be your own boss, you put your success in your own hands. This can be much more rewarding than working at an hourly job, but it is also much harder in many ways. There will be times when any business owner feels like throwing in the towel.

It is completely normal to feel like giving up at times. But when that happens, it is important to keep on keeping on. Here are some ways to do that.

1. Make a list of the reasons you decided to do what you're doing. Just getting started in business takes a tremendous amount of motivation, so going back to that time can help us get back into a similar frame of mind. Once your list is finished, keep it in a safe place for future reference.

2. Set goals and reward yourself for achieving them. Setting goals for our businesses helps us stay on track, and rewarding ourselves with something meaningful gives us the extra incentive we need to attain them.

3. Network with fellow business owners. It can be reassuring to know that others have been where you are and come out on top. They may also have helpful advice to share about any specific problems you are having.

4.

Consider investing in some motivational videos, CDs, books, or seminars. The people who make these have a knack for getting people on their feet and helping them succeed. There are lots of choices when it comes to these items, so if you don't know which speaker or author to choose, ask a fellow businessperson for a recommendation.

5. Get away from it all. One of the biggest motivation killers is burnout. If you've been working long hours and not seeing the rewards you think you deserve, consider taking a long weekend and going on a mini-vacation. Have someone else attend to calls and emails if possible. When you get back, you can get back to work with a clear head.

6. . If there is an aspect of your business that you aren't crazy about, you might consider hiring someone else to take care of it. This will free you up to work on the things that you are passionate about.

Staying motivated is essential to success. When we lose our motivation, our work suffers and we lose ground. By reminding ourselves what we want to accomplish and taking steps to reenergize ourselves, we can regain the momentum we need to get through the tough times.

Making and taking paid online surveys is a large and growing business on the Internet. There are literally thousands of new surveys being made weekly. Each and every month, many tens of thousands of survey participants are receiving deposits into their PayPal accounts or are getting checks in their mail boxes for their having participated in paid surveys.

So how can you join in this lucrative activity and start getting YOUR checks in the mail?

All you need to do is to get your applications on file with a large number of good survey makers so they can invite you to take one or more of their surveys. You want good survey makers that only make legitimate paid online surveys, those that pay reasonably well and pay on time, and that respect your privacy.

Unfortunately this is harder to do than it should be. From the point of view of survey participants, only something like 20-25% of all survey makers pay well and are really worth dealing with. The rest (75-80%) try to squeeze survey participants by paying as little as they possibly can. These will just waste your time.

The 20% of survey makers that pay well have little turnover and rarely advertise. The 75-80% no-pay/low-pay survey makers all have attrition, high dropout rates and must constantly recruit. They pay high recruiting fees to affiliates who recruit for them, offering "free lists" on the Net.

It's best to deal with one of the better paid sites to get your list. Paid survey site reviews can help you compare and find a good one.

You can get good information about how this works at: How It Works

The best way to get a good list of good survey makers is from a paid survey site. There are close to 200 of these membership sites that maintain lists for their members. For a small, generally one-time membership fee you can join and get access to a copy of their current list.

To select a good paid survey site, first look for those with a good, strong money-back guarantee, which is backed by a bank or by a financial company like PayPal, ClickBank or similar. There are 70 or more that will qualify.

From this group, choose one with a low (in the 3-6% range) refund rate to their clients. Avoid all with unknown refund rates or with refund rates of as much as 9 to 10% or more.

To see reviews of the top 20 paid survey sites, including their recent refund rate histories, visit: Current Rankings

When you have chosen your paid survey site and gotten your copy of their list, sign up with each and every one of the survey makers that are on that list. The more survey makers that have your data on file, the more money you'll make. This means you should sign up with at least 200 survey makers.

So how much money will you make? It depends on your diligence, your demographics and the number of good survey makers that have your info on file. That said, most reasonably diligent survey takers report incomes of $200 to $600 a month. Many report monthly incomes of $1,000 or more.

Making Money Creating Back End Offers On Affiliate Sales

Creating an affiliate program is a great way to sell products. Affiliates are a commission-based sales force and are only paid when their efforts result in a sale. There's no reason to stop at one sale.

Back end offers provide the potential for greater profits and higher customer loyalty. They are good for both the affiliate and the merchant. Presenting customers with relevant back end offers can turn one sale into two or more.

What Is a Back End Offer?

Back end offers are offers made once a customer has completed his order. The offer could be for any other product but in most cases the product offered is more expensive than the one originally purchased. The product offered should be targeted to customers who would buy the front end product but it should be different enough that the customer will find added value in it.

Back end offers can be made immediately after the original sale or some time later. Those made immediately after the sale often trigger impulse buying. Some customers prefer to wait and see how they like the original product so there is the potential for later sales as well.

Incentive Offers

Offering price cuts or other incentives can increase back end sales. You could offer a time-limited discount that is reserved for those who purchased the initial product. Throw in free bonuses such as eBooks or audio recordings. Give the customer a gift certificate or coupon for buying, opening the door for more sales in the future.

What Products Are Best for Back End Sales?

Many marketers use the technique of having affiliates promote an item with a low price, such as an eBook, then offering items with higher prices with each additional item purchased. For someone who buys that eBook offer a related software program. If they purchase that, then offer them a site membership with a monthly fee. Those who purchase that could be offered the opportunity to attend an in-depth seminar.

It is usually best not to offer that many products in one sitting. Offering an additional product after the initial purchase and one more after that will probably be enough for any customer. You should have his email address after that many purchases and you can send additional offers to his inbox.

Back end offers are a great way to increase your profits. They also give affiliates more incentive to promote the front end products because of the potential of additional commissions. Even if the customers don't buy the product offered right away, if they are happy with the original product they might come back later.

10 Social Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking is a system of sharing Internet bookmarks with other Internet users. There are many websites that allow you to share your favorite web pages and network with other users. Here are a few of the most popular:

technorati.com – This site allows users to share their blogs, photos, videos and more and boasts almost a million and a half visitors each month.

del.icio.us – This site is a very popular and was one of the first social bookmarking sites to really take off.

digg.com – This site receives 8.7 million visitors each month. Visitors can look up any topic and receive instant information and statistics.

stumbleupon.com – This is a relatively new site and it combines myspace with social bookmarking. Users can make up 5 of their own pages on any topic they want.

reddit.com -This site allows users to view what’s new, what’s hot at the moment and what the weekly stats are.

fark.com – This site’s main page has categories displayed that allows the user to go directly to topics such as sports, business, politics, music and more.

mybloglog.com – This site combines social bookmarking, blogging and social networking.

blinklist.com – This website is still in beta testing and it’s mission statement is more about how people can use the service for keeping track of their own research.

ma.gnolia.com – This site isn’t quite as big as some of the others but it is very easy to use and has a lot of information to make the process of social bookmarking understandable. This is a great site to get started with.

tailrank.com – This site keeps track of the conversations between blogs to help find what is hot on the web. The user can search on any topic they like or view randomly through categories such as politics, video, technology and entertainment.

These sites are all varied and, while they share in social bookmarking, they are all geared towards different audiences. To get the most out of these sites you may want to combine the use of several of them. For instance, you can list your blogs on technorati.com and ping the site when you update your blogs.

Then join a site such as stumbleupon.com and set up five web pages about various topics found on your own website. For instance, if your website featured information on guinea pigs, one of your stumbleupon.com sites could feature information on feeding guinea pigs and another page could feature information on the type of environment they should be kept in and so forth.

Meanwhile, keep your bookmarks in del.icio.us to share with other users and visit a site such as tailrank.com to keep track of what other people are blogging about. This can inspire new blog posts for your own blog, which would then mean you’d have more pings for technorati.com and the cycle would just start over.

All of these elements would work together to create more buzz for your website and introduce you to people with similar interests. This could lead to more web traffic and even some future joint venture partners, which, in turn would lead to even more traffic (but that is a whole new topic for another article).

How To Make Your Site Web 2.0 Friendly

You want to drive traffic to your website. You want to keep people at your website. You want to encourage people to return to your website. You want them to purchase your product.

Web 2.0 concepts will help you accomplish all of your goals. Web 2.0 is all about involving your visitors to interact with you and your website. With any website, the more you can make it interactive and user friendly the better it will be. You can add this type of interactivity to your own website in a number of ways:

1. Blogs. Blogs enable visitors to get to know you and your other website visitors immediately. They can read your posts, read the comments left by others and comment themselves. Additionally, blogs increase your search engine rankings and drive traffic when you make use of tags. Take your blog a step further and invite guests to post. This will keep the conversation lively and engaging.

2. Reviews. You're the expert, right? People visit your website to learn what you offer and what you have to say on your niche topic. Why not add reviews to your site too. Take it a step further and ask guests to review relevant products, services and websites. This enables your readers to influence the content of your website and it means that they'll come back again and again to read their own posts but to read reviews that other's have posted.

3. Forum or chat room. This tool is the epitome of Web 2.0 and user directed content. Best of all, forums are fairly easy to add to your site and you can outsource a moderator which means it adds immense value to your site and you don't really have to spend much of your own time. However, you can certainly facilitate it and become an active member in your own forum. It's fun to do and a great way to really connect with your customers.

4. Photos. Maybe it's just me, but I always wonder what an author or website owner looks like. I guess it is part of connecting online. Whatever the reason, including relevant photos on your website is a great way to involve your visitors. You may already do this in your newsletter. Carry it over onto your website or blog.

5. Video and audio. Interactive mediums like a video or audio that your visitors can play is another great tool. You can use them simply to say hello, you can use them to make a sales pitch or you can use them to inform. Think video tutorial or audio blog.

6. Quizzes, surveys and even newsletter subscription forms. Getting your members involved is often as easy as asking their opinion. You can of course add surveys and quizzes to your newsletters and email campaigns but why not simply add them to your website? A weekly or monthly quiz where you post the answer the following month is a fun way to involve your visitors and to encourage them to come back and learn the answer.

Web 2.0 isn't anything new or technologically tricky. Web 2.0 is simply involving your visitors in the content of your website. It is engaging them in dialogue, asking their opinion, inviting them to contribute. Web 2.0 is building a community around your website and it is good business.

Make Some More Money Online Today

If you were looking for a way to make some more money online ,with a creative talent, and enjoy writing, you may want to look into becoming a writer. There is a great demand for writers online at the moment and website owners need fresh content for their sites as well as great sales copy to promote their products and services.

There are actually three main ways that you can writing online. The first is by freelance writing. A lot people associate this type of writing with offline print magazines and newspapers but the most popular online sites frequently hire them, too.

As a freelance writer, you would also receive the credit for your work. If you have another website, blog or online business, this can be a great way to add incoming links to your site. Depending on the size of the website you are writing for, the income for some freelancer writers may be small, or even non-existent. However, the exposure for your name and business may be all you get for your work.

is another in demand field for writers online. Website owners hire ghostwriters to write for their web sites or blogs, as well as special reports and ebooks that may sell or give away. When someone ghostwrites an article for someone, they do not receive credit for it. This is where the term (ghostwriter)came about: the writer is invisible. The person paying for the work would receive the credit for it.

The writers usually get paid very well for their efforts. The amount will vary from client to client. A beginning ghostwriter looking to make some more money online would expect to earn anywhere between $7 - $10 for a 450 to 500 word article. Once the becomes more established and has a few regular clients, then they can start charging a lot more for their work.

One of the highest paid types of writing found online is copywriting. This is also the most specialized form. Generally speaking, ghostwriters and freelance writers do not need any special skills other than being good writers.A however, needs to have a special way with words and sales skills.
